Are you a qualified mechanic or technician looking for a new challenge?
- Do you have experience in the repair, maintenance or inspection of vehicles?
- Would you like to work in a role that helps saves people’s lives by ensuring vehicles operate safely on our roads?
- If so, then we would love to hear from you**Job description**:
We are looking for motivated individuals to join our professional HRTI enforcement team as Vehicle Examiners.

Vehicle Examiners contribute to the maintenance and improvement of road safety and standards by keeping the public safe on Britain’s roads.

We do this by conducting inspections of various types of vehicles and systems relating to vehicle operations, ensuring they meet the correct standards. If the vehicles don't meet the highest standards, Vehicle Examiners issue enforcement action and in extreme cases the immobilising of dangerous vehicles.

**Person specification**:
**_ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: _**
- Carrying out inspections at fixed enforcement sites and other roadside locations.
- Collect evidence, write reports and where necessary issue prohibition notices, fixed penalty notices, test certificates and other test documentation.
- Answer technical queries from customers, offering advice, guidance and education as required.
- Presenting evidence on behalf of DVSA in Court and at Public Inquiry.
- Supporting MOT compliance work.

**About You**

You will have experience in the repair, maintenance or inspection of at least one type of vehicle if not multiple, along with the relevant qualifications.

This is a hands-on technical role where an eye for detail to spot defects is highly important. This is public facing role and you will have the ability to communicate effectively when having some pretty difficult conversations.

The Vehicle Examiner role can be physically demanding, which includes working under vehicles in inspection pits and by the roadside, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. It can also involve climbing in and out of HGV/PSV cabs.

We offer extensive training at our training centres and you will need to be comfortable using laptop computers and smart phones, as our services become more digital.

**Additional Information**

These roles are normally full time, but depending upon business needs and requirements, opportunities may exist for part time, job sharing and flexible working.

Due to the nature of the role, there may be a requirement to travel to other DVSA locations, with the potential for overnight stays for which additional payments are made. This may also include working outside of normal hours - prior notice will be given.
