The YMCA Robin Hood group provides temporary supported accommodation for young people, refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, children leaving care and vulnerable adults across Nottingham in our network of transitionary homes.
We are looking for a Maintenance Worker to join our Nottingham Housing team to undertake a range of different tasks in order to keep our properties safe, secure and providing a nice environment for our residents to live. Whilst you will be based in Nottingham city centre, you will travel around the suburbs of Nottingham with at least one other member of the Maintenance team, in a YMCA provided vehicle.
You can expect your day to day role to include:
- Carrying out repairs and general maintenance
- Preparing rooms for new residents to move into
- When required, undertaking a range of other tasks, including plumbing, painting, and gardening
- Working through a list of jobs reported by residents and colleagues
- Updating stock reports
**About You**
Whether you have experience of working in a trade position e.g. plumber, joiner, decorator or a more general maintenance/care-taker role, we are looking for you to be willing and able to tackle any of the jobs which need attention
Relevant qualifications would be preferred, however, we are very happy to support you gain these qualifications to mirror your experience and help develop you.
We need you to be a team player and enjoy working with others as you complete all our jobs at least double-manned. You will be a problem solver and someone who is creative to find a solution for the problem in front of you You will also be a good communicator as you will be interacting with your colleagues and our residents on a daily basis. Being approachable, friendly and easy to talk to will make it easy for residents to feel comfortable to report issues to you
You be enjoy being being busy and having a very varied day - no day is ever the same You will also take pride in your work and look to complete repairs as quickly as possible but to the highest standard.
There may also be times you will also be expected to travel to other locations across the county when required as we work as a wider team covering all our properties. You will require a driving license but we will provide you with access to a fleet vehicle and all the tools needed to do your job
Working Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, there is no requirement for weekend working except in very rare occasions, always with prior agreement.
