**About the role**:
Due to an increasing workload we are recruiting for a Section Leader to assist at our Grangemouth Manufacturing site.
**Overview**
To manage the Team and be directly responsible for all production aspects relating to quality, cost, delivery, safety, continuous improvement and engagement. The role will carry a strong emphasis on performance evaluation, team working, analysis and the planning and scheduling of people and workload.

**As a Section Leader your duties will include:

- Actively participate in the development of, and work with site H&S deployment plan; participate in site audits and safety walks as required.
- Complete risk assessments for all processes in their work area on a regular basis which is agreed with the Production Manager / Team Leader.
- Work with Operatives to maintain the cleanliness of the machinery and the shopfloor, ensuring that all 5S activities and storage areas meet Bridon standards of excellence.
- Work with Maintenance to ensure accurate recording of all issues on RedCard system and help reduce down-time : during periods of down-time assist Operatives with task prioritisation for housekeeping activities.
- Attend and present production status at daily team meetings to ensure priorities are understood and assist Maintenance and Engineering to develop appropriate PPM schedules.
- Analyse performance and suggest improvements via the MBU and other continuous improvement activities ensuring all abnormalities are formally recorded and actioned.
- Communicate to Team Leader, Planning and site Management any underperformance which becomes an issue and propose improvement plans/timings.
- Liaise with Team Leader and Planning to manage fluctuating demand levels and ensure priorities are understood/communicated.
- Ensure there is a cross training matrix and that sufficient staff are fully trained to cover any periods of absence and high workloads.
- Liaise with Technical department on work orders and all deviations of material from work orders.
- Assist Dispatch personnel as and when required for loading/unloading material to ensure production schedules and adhered to.
- Ensure all production materials are controlled and being used in line with all standard operating procedures and work instructions by all production operatives.
**About You**
**Essential skills & competencies**
- Have experience in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment, ideally with previous experience in a similar role.
- Ideally, some knowledge of fibre rope products would be useful, although full training will be provided
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team.
- Personal organizational and time management skills.
- Able to solve basic machine/area related problems.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents commensurate with machine operation.
- Ability to organize own workload and that of own section members.
- Demonstrable record of changing practices or suggesting improvement to practices and processes.
- Experience of working effectively within small teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of ‘tools’/systems such as ‘just in time’, 5S etc.
