**Job description**

Batsford Timber, a long established family run business, is looking for a motivated, organised and proactive individual to work at our South West depot situated in the Longleat Forest. This role incorporates the supervision of our yard and timber treatment operations, reporting to the Branch Manager. Some forklift and mechanical/engineering experience would be preferred but training will be provided. Occasional Saturdays and early/late starts may be required in line with the needs of the business.

**Duties to Include**
- Supervise and organise all yard and treatment personnel to meet customer and business’s needs.
- Maintain the efficient running of the timber treatment operations, including developing the skills to operate the treatment plants. Training will be provided.
- Ensure everyone in the team complies with the Company HSE policies and procedures.
- Communicate efficiently with all members of your team providing them with clear instructions and feedback on scheduling and quality of work.
- Identify and act on opportunities for increasing sales, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency, directing yard staff to do the same.
- Manage stock in the yard including good stock rotation
- Ensuring products are stored appropriately to minimise wastage
- Maintaining plant & equipment
- Organising and assisting with order picking
- Organising and assisting with loading and unloading.

- Ability to learn new skills.
- Strong supervisory expertise, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and can solve problems at source.
- Must possess excellent organisational skills and good time management.

Full-time hours: 45 per week

Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:00
