**Job summary**:
As the SO3 Cmd Gp to the Station Commander RAF Wittering you will be a pivotal member of the outer office staff and play a key role in enabling the Station Commander to work efficiently and effectively. The role calls for strong communication and organisational skills and previous experience of working in an outer office would be beneficial.

You will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Stn Cdr’s Outer Office, and for the morale, discipline, and welfare of all personnel under your command.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
**Management of Command Group Activity**

1. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the organisation, preparation and record taking, for the primary Stn meetings. In addition, the tracking of all directed tasks, holding SLT to account on behalf of the Stn Cdr if tasks are not completed in a timely manner or not iaw dirction from the Stn Cdr; this includes all PARMIS activity in support of the DCOS or XO.

2. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the effective staffing and management of the Stn Cdr’s Honours and Awards (H&A) process and submissions. This should include proof-reading, act as the chair of the pre-sift working gp, with the SLT as required, and collate all worthy submissions. Prepare and present in prioritised order with comments from the pre-sift working gp, to the Stn Cdr, to enable a timely decision. Upon Stn Cdr’s decision, direct engagement with the Air H&A Team to ensure the WIT submissions meet both the requirement and the deadline; undertake any adjustments to the submissions that are required by HQ Air.

3. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the management and oversight of non-State Honours and Awards throughout the Station, including the staffing and pre-selection of the monthly Station Commander’s recognition, Sports Colours and Station level commendations on behalf of the Stn Cdr.

(1) Engagment with Station Command Group and key stakeholders, incl Force Elements based at WIT for all awards.

**Effective Management of the Stn Cdr’s Outer Office**:
1. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the effective management and co-ordination of the Stn Cdr’s Appraisal reporting responsibilities (OJAR/SJAR/MPAR/CivPAR) to guarantee timely completion for subsequent promotion boards, as per the JSP. The role of the SO3 will be to manage, track and hasten the OF3/4 community on overdue reports on behalf of the Stn Cdr and the staffing of OF4 reports to SE Regional Commander and Air Officer Air Base.

2. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for chairing and the management of the OR8/9 & OF2/3 grading boards as an independent body. SO3 Cmd Gp will prepare the necessary staff work and results of the moderation panel for 2nd RO, 3rd RO staffing to the SE Regional Commander and Air Officer Air Base.

2. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the chairing and management of the H&A moderation panel. SO3 Cmd Gp will draft and issue final correspondence (e.g. Letters of thanks, H&A recognition letters) as directed by the Stn Cdr and staff all Air Officer awards via the OF5 Reg Cdr.

3. SO3 Cmd Gp is to manage and prioritise the Stn Cdrs Inbox and associated tasks and staff work. They are to ensure incoming tasks, information, or queries with appropriate urgency, are highlighted to the Stn Cdr.

4. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the management of the outer Teams site and allocation and tracking of task tiles. SO3 Cmd Gp will independently monitor, prioritise, and track all tasks that have been directed by the Stn Cdr, that require completion across the Stn. This will include tasks from: OF5 Regional Cdr, AOAB and those which require a response to 3* and above tasks, Min Sub, EXCo tasks, etc.

5. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the effective, timely management and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Stn Cdr is fully prepared with all the correct documentation for meetings and events. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for ensuring the Stn Cdr has all documentation in a timely manner that allows sufficient pre-reading time.

6. SO3 Cmd Gp is responsible for the planning and coordination of all logistics for all the Stn Cdr’s visits, incl management of dates/deconflictions, reviewing Visit Instructions, providing host details, uniform details with the Stewards and arrange travel and accn to ensure all documentation is provided that may be required for the various visits away from Stn.
