This is an exciting opportunity to join the Wokingham Prevention and Youth Justice Service (PYJS) on a 9 months Fixed Term Contract.

**About us**:We are a trauma informed service, who work compassionately and restoratively, with a child first ethos. We care about our staff by providing ongoing development opportunities and promoting a healthy work/life balance. As a Youth Justice Worker you will hold a mixed caseload from prevention, diversion and statutory strands of work. However, the focus of your role will be on our Exclusion Prevention Programme. This programme is aimed at addressing the onset of criminal behaviour and working with children on the cusp of offending to prevent them from entering the criminal justice system and at school.

**About you**: You must have experience working with children within the youth justice system, including experience of conducting quality assessments to identify and analyse the underlying causes for children’s behaviour or offending; experience of co-producing intervention plans with children using creative, relationship-based interventions and the latest evidence-based practice; and experience assessing and managing the three domains of risk: serious harm; re-offending; and safety and wellbeing. It is essential that you can demonstrate that you are able to hold timely and accurate written records of your work in a given case management system. You should be familiar with the AssetPlus assessment tool and have experience of analytical and critical writing, including reports for varied audiences (Courts, Police, Referral Order Panels). You will be knowledgeable about the relevant youth justice legislation, National Standards for Children in Youth Justice and Youth Justice Board best practice guidance. **A qualification in Social Work, Probation, Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (PCEP), Psychology, or Criminology is an essential requirement for this role.**

Our team is multi-disciplinary and we work closely with Early Help, Children’s Social Care, Police, Health Justice Teams, substance misuse and local schools. You will be expected to work across agencies to achieve the best outcomes for our children and demonstrable experience of working collaborative with other agencies will be a bonus.

Access to a car and a valid driving licence are essential requirements for this role.
