Anatomical Pathology Technologist

As a Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician (APT) you will liaise with Trust colleagues, His Majesty's (HM) Coroner, Undertakers and other external agencies to provide a caring, compassionate mortuary service. Supporting the Mortuary Supervisor with running the service with fellow APTs. The post holder will participate in the out of hours rota.

East Lancashire Hospital, Mortuary Service cares for approximately 3500 patients each year both from the hospital and surrounding communities.

We have been at the forefront of developing CT as a non-invasive diagnostic alternative to traditional post-mortem for a number of years and currently derive a cause of death using CT on Coronial post-mortems. We advocate external only and limited examinations where possible, and also perform clinical intervention as preparation for angiograms.

We perform a limited amount of post-mortems a year. This includes adult, coronial and forensic examinations.

All our APT's participate in an on-call roster and the usual standby and on-call payments.
