Overview:
The Resource Directorate is looking for Emergency Planning & Business Continuity Officer to support the Head of Civil Contingencies in carrying out the emergency planning and business continuity function for the whole council, so that the Council’s responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and Resilience Standards for London are met. To deputise for the Head of Civil Contingencies in their absence. To lead on and deliver emergency planning and business continuity projects to ensure Harrow Council is prepared for emergencies in line with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004

About you:

- Detailed knowledge of emergency planning, business continuity, local government and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
- Experience of researching and considering information to inform and develop a plan/ policy.
- Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
- Excellent organisational skills demonstrating the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Evidence of effective presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Creative writing skills to resolve complex problems with innovative solutions; producing reports and briefing papers
- Able to work occasional unsocial hours including weekends, evenings and nights; and be part of an ‘on-call rota’.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
