**The Role**

The team goes into work areas to provide specific quality, or right-first-time concern via fact-based recommendations.

The problem solving teams can be asked to work in any plant area, on short timescale projects, to maximise through-chain value for the business. This is typically focussed on solving root cause of defects in the product, and, in many cases, looking to improve product capability through onsite work.

We are recruiting for a Quality Improvement Specialist based within Central Technical across our sites in Llanwern and Port Talbot, South Wales. Projects will be through chain with work carried out at a number of different areas; hot-mill, cold-mill, slab and steel, downstream processes etc. The purpose of the role is to work within a Through Value Chain quality improvement group to achieve the desired project objectives. In time, this could progress to management of dedicated project team when appropriate capability is developed.

To carry out this role successfully you will be involved in the following duties:

- Work within the Tata core values and help team embed safety culture.
- Plan work programmes to achieve a project goals within the team
- Manage work plans to meet deliverables, overcoming barriers to progress
- Liaise and cooperate with expertise both across Tata and with suppliers to develop work programmes, as appropriate, to achieve desired outcomes
- Use Data analysis and analytical skills to develop knowledge useful to the problem
- Use Problem Solving techniques to develop and support project direction
- Coach peer group on key skills and others to consolidate and improve team performance
- Understanding of continuous improvement processes
- Report findings to the team, local areas and project stakeholders
- Develop a support network from specialist functions like R&D
- Industrial experience - ideally heavy industry or manufacturing
- Good communication skills and respect of colleagues
- Some experience in data mining, data analysis, problem solving and project planning
- Coding skills desirable (python, SQL)
- Degree educated preferred; in Engineering, Maths or Science, but extensive experience and knowledge is equally important
- Desire for professional development
- Full driving license
