Here at Serco, we have an exciting opportunity for a General Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. You will provide and carry out catering services within the Initial Accommodation, in accordance with all the relevant and current regulations, legislations and guidelines.

**As part of this you’ll**:
Work with the Field Operations Manager and Catering team in the delivery of catering services to the whole establishment and comply with all relevant Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations, legislation and company guidelines & operational procedures
Assist in providing varied and healthy meals for service users to include special diets, special events and religious events by working in all areas such as general cleaning, basic food preparation and production.
Ensure the security and food safety of all foodstuffs is maintained during delivery, storage and distribution within the kitchen area.
Record and document all relevant paperwork to comply with food hygiene regulations, Health & Safety, HACCP and Company Policies
React to complaint issues and trends, with a cohesive approach along with the catering team.
Work shift work and weekends on a rota basis.
Train for and carry out any other work reasonably acceptable within the capabilities of the post holder.

**What you’ll need to do the role**:
Literacy and numeracy Level 2 or equivalent GCSE.
Level 2 Food Safety.
Awareness - Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)*
Awareness of Allergen Control within Catering*
Level 2 - First Aid at Work.
An understanding of working in a socially diverse environment, along with a good team ethic.
Basic working knowledge of a commercial kitchen environment.
Good interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication.
Excellent time management.
- Level 2 Qualifications in HACCP required to be completed, ideally prior to employment or at the earliest opportunity once employment has commenced.
- Level 2 Qualifications in Allergens in Catering required to be completed, ideally prior to employment or at the earliest opportunity once employment has commenced.
- Level 2 Qualifications in First Aid at Work required to be completed during initial probation period.

**Desirable Qualifications**:
Level 2- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
Level 2- Allergens in Catering
Level 2- HSE
