GMP Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client in Hereford for a Maintenance Engineer to join a highly successful, rapidly expanding organisation on a permanent basis.

Our client is an NHS approved, market leading company making inspirational and innovate products for over sixty years.

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving machinery, equipment & infrastructure in order to meet Company production requirements.

Maintenance Engineer duties:

- Work within the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
- Responsible for the setting, maintenance and upkeep of production machinery, including maintaining the necessary records for each piece of equipment (such as OEM instruction manual, service records, contact information of 3rd party companies for breakdownsand maintenance, etc).
- Responsible for site maintenance including buildings, grounds, alarm systems etc. Maintain the necessary records of engineer’s reports; maintenance and 3rd party contact information and work done for each asset.
- Responsible for the creation and subsequent upkeep of a preventive maintenance system.
- Lead member of the Health & Safety committee and have responsibility for keeping the company abreast of new legislation and updating the company’s Health and Safety systems to comply with these. This includes responsibility for the company’s duties underPUWER, LOLER, asbestos management and First aid.
- Responsible for Risk Assessments for the company including COSHH, Manual Handling, Fire and General assessments - This will include ensuring the relevant people are involved in the assessments, where necessary obtaining professional help to carry out theassessments and the associated documentation and record keeping.
- Where 3rd parties are involved, responsible for obtaining appropriate levels of quotes; verifying competence; obtaining method statements, risk assessment and proof of 3rd party liability insurance and control of the contractor whilst on site.
- Assist in the laying out of machinery and plant to maintain or enhance production capabilities.
- Responsible for the procurement of equipment to facilitate manufacture, which includes jigs and fixtures, assembly tooling and fully automated and semi-automated machines.
- Assist in the automation of labour intensive tasks in production, specifying and making changes as necessary.
- Instrumental in the specifying of new tooling and other capital requirements for the production facility.
- Work within the Company’s operating procedures ensuring that quality standards are maintained.

Maintenance Engineer required skills and experience:

- An experienced engineer used to fixing problems with equipment, whether electrical, mechanical or both.
- You will have excellent mechanical and electrical fault find and repair skills.
- If you have 17th or 18th edition this would be advantageous.
- An individual driven by preventing reoccurrence of issues with an ability for automating labour intensive repetitive production tasks.
- Proactive and dynamic approach to safety.
- Must be flexible towards working hours.
- Good attention to detail, highly organized, a quick learner who is able to manage changing priorities.
- Computer literate (ideally with CAD skills), thrives on problem solving and willing to go the extra mile. Having NEBOSH certification, Lean Manufacturing, Risk Assessment, Internal Auditing skills and experience would be an advantage.

This is a full time, permanent position, Monday - Thursday 08:00am - 17:00pm and Friday 08:00am - 16:00pm.

This role comes with a highly competitive salary up to £37,000 which is pending experience, plus excellent fringe benefits.
