Machine Shop Quality Inspector

MACHINE SHOP QUALITY INSPECTOR IV at TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world. **Job Overview**
TE Connectivity's Quality Control and Reliability Teams ensure product and / or product components comply with specifications and quality standards. They test and inspect products against performance and integrity criteria to ensure product quality and reliability, and to determine the suitability of product release.
**PRIMARY PURPOSE**
As the Machine shop Quality inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring components meet specifications and provide a balance between quality control and cost effectiveness. You will ensure that the correct checking equipment is used, Correct programs are created, standardised, stored & used. You will work in collaboration with the standards room making recommendations to improve processes, standards & safety.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**
- Support the day to day running of the Machine shop to meet departmental KPI’s.
- Complete internal DQIP and FAI reports with accuracy and to the required turnaround timescale.
- Conduct roaming inspections in Machine shop to ensure components meet specification.
- Assist and support in product failure investigations supplying measurement data as required.
- Program, operate and optimize contact & non-contact Measuring equipment.
- Identify best practices for measuring components.
- Prepare inspection reports and interpret the inspection results.
- Maintain quality documentation in a neat and methodical manner.
- Carry out all inspections to company procedures and BS308 drawings.
- Observe Health & Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time.
- Liaise with other departments when necessary.
- Support and liaise with the Quality supervisor together with other members of staff as required.
**What your background should look like**:
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- Good general education to GCSE level.
- Mechanical Engineering or similar technical qualifications in relevant field.
- Experience in using computer systems is essential.
- Experience with mechanical measurement techniques.
- Experience Operating and programming contact and non
- contact measuring equipment.
- Experience in a technical, engineering or manufacturing role preferred.
- Demonstrated communication, collaboration and team working skills preferred.
- Ability to think strategically whilst managing the day-to-day demands.
**ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
- Must be familiar with mechanical measurement techniques.
- Must be able to programme and operate contact and non-contact measuring equipment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Strong reliability and accuracy under pressure.
- Must be capable of reading BS308 drawings.
- Ability to interpret dimensional requirements on drawings and specifications.
