The Adoption and Fostering Recruitment team support people to make enquires to adopt and foster. If you would like to make a difference and enjoy working with people, this could be the perfect social care role for you.

As an Adoption and Fostering Officer in the team you would be involved in processing enquiries and supporting applicants on their Adoption & Fostering journeys.

The Adoption & Fostering Recruitment Team is a part of Hertfordshire’s Children’s & Families Specialist Services and sits within the Adoption Service.

The team is county wide and covers all of Hertfordshire. Be a part of an Outstanding Service recently inspected by Ofsted.

Be a point of contact for the Adoption and Fostering recruitment campaigns dealing with enquiries personally. Giving appropriate advice, guidance and information to potential applicants.

To plan, organise and deliver local recruitment events, which includes open evenings and community events providing advice and information to potential adopters and foster carers.

To attend recruitment meetings and contribute to recruitment planning including campaigns.

Assist in producing reports and analysis on recruitment data, collecting statistical information and evaluating recruitment activities.
- To record information manually and on computer to maintain up-to-date information
- To develop positive relationships with a variety of internal and external organisations
- To undertake a range of recruitment tasks as required
- To work flexibly, including out of hours

Also you will be attending events in the community to recruit people to adopt and foster.

Experience of working on projects and events
- Experience of presenting to people
- Ability to communicate confidently with a variety of audiences including the general public professional teams and partners
- Basic awareness of fostering recruitment and retention
- Awareness of Fostering Regulation 2002 and National Foster Care Standards.
- Experience of forming positive relationships with a variety of internal and external organisations
- Good organisational skills
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Ability to write reports
- Experience of learning new skills and translating learning into practice
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams and partner agencies
- Basic awareness of best practice in the recruitment and retention of foster carers
- Ability to understand the need for good foster carers to meet the needs of Children Looked After
