The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a non-departmental public body created through the Energy Act 2004.

We have 5 offices across the UK, in Cumbria, Dounreay, Harwell, Warrington and London. We have 17 sites including the first fleet of nuclear power stations, research centres, fuel-related facilities, and Sellafield, which has the largest radioactive inventory and the most complex facilities to decommission.

We are sponsored by the **Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)** and supported by Dounreay, Magnox, Nuclear Waste Services, Nuclear Transport Solutions and Sellafield. The Scottish government also has a governance role, working closely with DESNZ to ensure its expectations are met.

Our role is strategic: we establish the overall approach, allocate budgets, set targets and monitor progress.

We do not have a hands-on role in cleaning up our facilities. Instead, we deliver our mission through others, primarily 12 businesses.

**We are responsible for**:

- decommissioning and cleaning up these nuclear facilities ensuring that all waste products, both radioactive and non-radioactive, are safely managed.
- implementing policy on the long-term management of nuclear waste.
- developing UK-wide strategy and plans for nuclear Low Level Waste (LLW).
- scrutinising the decommissioning plans of EDF Energy, who own the operating fleet of Advanced Gas Cooled Reactor (AGR) nuclear power stations.

The role holder will lead, coordinate, and facilitates the alignment of Group wide commercial policies, procedures, and standards. Driving continuous improvement, alignment across the Group and in support of compliance with HMG Policy, Procedures and Process.

The role holder with additionally manage Group wide commercial assurance reviews and activities, primarily leading on the Enhanced Commercial Assurance process.

The role includes interfacing with senior stakeholders at the Cabinet Office on Commercial Controls and Commercial Continuous Improvement Assessment Framework submissions (CCIAF).

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Support the delivery of the group commercial assurance reviews through the Commercial Assurance Management framework.
- Support the delivery and continuous improvement of commercial assurance interventions through the NDA’s Enhanced Commercial Assurance process based on risk
assessment and the overall assurance pipeline.
- Provision of independent challenge and support to the Group, especially around delivery of procurements, programmes, projects and strategic objectives and risks.
- Undertake thematic/deep reviews on topics, issues, trends, or target areas identified, developing an understanding of issues, mitigations, and actions to develop a
proportionate response.
- Work collaboratively with the wider group commercial team, the NDA Assurance team and relevant stakeholders to research and develop best practice solutions across the Group.
- Support the Commercial Assurance & Policy Lead in the design and deployment of commercial policy and procedures across the Group to enable a One NDA approach in
line with HMG best practice and standards.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required**:

- Shares and demonstrates the NDA values of, Respect, Openness, Collaboration, Performance and Creativity.
- Experience reviewing Business Cases
- Experienced professional with expertise in delivery of a wide range of commercial projects and programmes
- Commercial practitioner with experience of partaking in assurance exercises.
- Experience of working collaborating with Commercial leaders and teams.
- Excellent team working skills, with experience of sharing knowledge and information
within teams.
- Achieved ADC Grade A or B (ASR) at Commercial Lead (Level 7) or has MCIPS, expert membership of IACCM, MRICS or equivalent professional qualification.
