Freelance Tutor - Teaching Assistant Standards

**Role Purpose**

ITEC Ltd has a very exciting opportunity for a freelance tutor to join our apprenticeship programmes, being responsible for the apprenticeship delivery, support and achievement.

We expect the successful applicant to deliver teaching assistant apprenticeship standard. This role will work alongside colleagues in the apprenticeship delivery team.

**Role Profile**

Teaching and learning responsibility:

- Participate in a Learner centred approach to service delivery
- Maintain an up to date Teaching Assistant related CPD Log
- Produce lesson plans, schemes of work, support materials and other teaching related materials;
- Delivery high quality, engaging sessions to apprentices and ensuring high retention

& achievement rates are in line with recommended targets;
- Apprenticeship assessment to be completed to the teaching assistant standard, providing feedback and guidance to apprentices, ensuring portfolios are completed and submitted in a timely manner;
- Monitor attendance, punctuality & progress, maintaining appropriate records and ensuring that these are in line with recommended targets.
- Provide apprentices with structured feedback, advice and guidance, enabling them to meet the teaching assistant standard in the allotted time.
- Ensure that all reporting and recording relating to apprentices, which may include administration and assessment, is organised, and conducted as agreed;
- Ensure lessons, delivery and assessments meet with the teaching assistant standards set by awarding bodies, Ofsted or other Quality Frameworks and other organisations that monitor ITEC Ltd;
- Ensure apprentices follow the policies provided to them in their learner handbook;
- Fully comply with all statutory requirements including Safeguarding, Prevent and promoting British Values;
- Provide additional support to apprentices who have barriers or need reasonable adjustments due to a disability, to support positive achievement and retention rates for all groups of apprentices;

- Be prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the apprentices;
- Engage with other departments to support apprentices, for example Employer

**Behaviour and Safety**:

- Ensure that apprentices are made aware of Health & Safety considerations and that they adhere to them;
- Ensure that apprentices are made aware of Safeguarding, Prevent & British Values and how to make a referral.
- Promoting Equality & Diversity ensuring apprentices receive equal opportunities.
- Be a positive role model for the apprentices, demonstrating consistently a positive attitude, values and behaviours, which are expected of apprentices;
- Work with the wider team to facilitate a positive resolution to any concerns or difficulties with behaviour management. For example, to pastoral care or management.
- Engage in regular standardisation meetings and training to review the quality of the teaching and learning provision in line with the quality strategy;
- Engage with and implement recommended actions from the ongoing feedback and development opportunities available from IQAs & Teaching, Learning Observations/Learning Walks;

**Professional Development/ Continuous Improvement**:

**Requirements**:
**Education / qualification and training**

Level 3 PTLLS or Award in Education and Training (AET).

Level 4 CTLLS or Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET).

Level 5 DTLLS or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or CELTA or

Cert Ed

Postgraduate/ Professional Graduate Certificate in Education

Assessor/ IQA qualifications.

**Knowledge / skills**

Knowledge of Health & Safety.

IT Literate
- MS Office, Outlook.

Demonstrate high levels of organisational skills.

Demonstrate ability to be self-directed with initiative and to be able to solve practical problems with limited supervision.

Demonstrate a creative and imaginative approach to learner-centred delivery.

Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of and young person’s and/or vulnerable adults.
