**Theatre Healthcare Assistant | **Flexible shifts, no nights | Band 2 equivalent plus benefits | Oadby, Leicester | Full Time/part time available.**

Spire Leicester Hospital are expanding the scope of services we offer our patients and are looking for experienced Theatre HCA's to join our established team.

**Duties and responsibilities**

Working as part of this large and well established supportive team you can expect to assist patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures including ENT, max fax, dental, plastics, pain management, orthopaedic, gynaecology and urology.
- Support the registered nurse and operating department practitioner in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received.
- Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient.
- To be involved in the cleaning/washing of the theatre and accessories before commencement of list, between cases and at the end of the list.
- To maintain high standards of infection prevention and control within the theatre department, during clinical care and to assist patients to maintain their own infection control needs.
- Assist with transportation of patient to and from the ward.
- Assist in the safe transfer and positioning of patients to ensure prevention of pressure sores
- Undertake the role of circulator in theatre ensuring that the requirements of the scrub nurse and/or surgeon is met effectively and in a timely fashion.
- To have a clear understanding and to participate in the accurate accounting of all disposable and non-disposable instruments, items and sharps before, during and after any clinical procedure, as per policy.
- Continuously recognise and give priority to the needs of patients, maintaining respect, dignity and an individualised approach to patient services.
- To utilise and complete relevant documentation correctly.
- To undertake an NVQ in theatre practice '“ level 2 and level 3.

**Who we're looking for**

An interest in development and progression is encouraged and reinforced.
- Flexibility to the needs of the department
- Previous experience within a Theatre department would be advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Previous porter experience would also be considered
