**JOB TITLE: CARE SUPPORT WORKER**

**HOURS**:Flexible, depending on the needs of the business and agreed working hours at interview.

**SALARY/HOURLY RATE: TBC**

**SUMMARY**
- To deliver all aspects of care duties required to meet the needs of residents and to promote privacy, respect, dignity and independence.
- To help in the care of the resident’s physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home.
- To carry out effectively and efficiently any tasks assigned by senior staff for the benefit of the residents.
- While the Care Support Worker will not always be under direct and immediate supervision, the tasks done must be within the framework of the residents’ individual care planning programme and within the procedures and expectations set by the home.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Delivering Care and Support using a holistic person-centred approach**:_
- Establish, maintain and further develop positive communication and effective working relationships with residents.
- Provide personalised, physical, emotional and social care and support in accordance with the residents’ personal care and support plans in a committed approach.
- Support and further promote choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfilment, and other rights for residents.
- Assist residents to maintain their washing, dressing and toileting needs, following personalised care plans and promoting independence. Assist service users with grooming and taking pride in their appearance in a dignified manner.
- Assist with any required lifting, turning, moving and re-positioning service users; understand the correct methods and equipment for safe moving & handling. Assist residents with independent mobilisation; support maintenance in checks of equipment prior to use, and regular cleaning of reporting all defects immediately.
- Participate in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
- Assist residents with their dietary and nutritional needs including following any specified dietary recommendations or supporting with swallowing problems. This may include assisting with the preparation of thickened fluids for residents with swallowing difficulties.
- Observing the general health and wellbeing of the residents in our care reporting any concerns to the person in charge. Supporting with the regular monitoring of weights and physical observations as appropriate to needs.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with the resident’s family, friends and other persons involved in their care, including advocates, where involved.
- Work as a proactive and supportive member of the staff team. Ensuring appropriate professional relationships with a team working approach.
- Establish, maintain and further develop positive communication and effective working relationships within the staff team and with other professionals who provide input into the home.
- Take responsibility for the safe handling of finances, property and equipment belonging residents ensuring care home policies are followed.
- Provide support to residents by actively talking with and listening to them about matters they consider important to discuss.
- Accompany the resident on outings into the community and on holidays when required.
- Report any accidents or incidents occurring to service users/visitors/staff to the shift leader and ensure adequate documentation is completed.
- **Safeguarding**_
- Promptly report any safeguarding concerns about the care, support, well-being or behaviour of residents to the line manager and update electronic records accordingly with as much detail as possible.
- Recognise the signs of abuse as identified in the Company’s Safeguarding Policy and immediately report witnessed or suspected abuse to the line Manager.
- Be prepared to answer honestly any questions about an occurred incident or an individual’s working practice.
- **Recording and Reporting**_
- Maintain accurate electronic records in respect of care and support given and tasks undertaken.
- Regularly read electronic care and support plans, acknowledging changes in the needs of residents and highlighting any information that may no longer be current.
- Protect the confidentiality of all information relating to residents and ensure that this is NOT shared to anyone other than the staff team, unless given permission to do so by the line manager.
- Report all complaints made by residents, relatives, visitors or others to the line manager at the time they are raised. Encourage an environment where it is reactive to raising of concerns.

- Adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
