**Legacy Officer - Temporary contract (18 months)**
**Salary**: circa £27,778 (dependent on experience)

This is a chance to make a contribution in a varied and interesting role within the Legacy Department dealing with matters relating to legacies and bequests to the Institution. When people leave a legacy to our organisation in their Will it is essential thatwe liaise with the controlling solicitors to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.
We are looking for two Legacy Officers who are able to work on their own initiative as well as be a good team player.
**You will possess**:

- Exceptional written communication skills
- Excellent administrative and verbal skills and be meticulous in all aspects of your work
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels and handle sensitive situations including dealing with bereaved relatives
- Good IT and typing skills, to include knowledge of Word and Excel
You will be responsible for managing the Institution’s pecuniary and standard residuary bequests, ensuring legacy income is fully maximised, cash flow maintained, and all legal and procedural requirements met. Attention to detail is key, along with proven communicationand negotiation skills. This will include a diplomatic nature necessary when dealing with sensitive situations. In return, we’ll provide full training relating to legacies.
A working knowledge of the law of wills & probate for England, Wales, and Scotland would be advantageous but is not essential.
