Are you a dedicated and compassionate professional who is looking for a freelance Specialist 1:1 Study Skills and Strategy Support - Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) position? Acharya Mentoring provides support to students within higher education who are in receipt of Disability Student Allowance (DSA). Acharya Mentoring is actively searching for those who wish to work closely alongside students with learning difficulties, on a one to one basis to provide bespoke support and help manage life at university. At Acharya Mentoring, we are passionate about providing support to people who may be facing challenges presented to them as a result of their learning difficulties and feel this shouldn't be a barrier to achieving success. We pride ourselves on our ability to achieve with our students, working closely and collaboratively to assist them achieve their goals. This role is very rewarding and can be incorporated around another job if need be. You will receive full support to be able to complete your role to the best of your ability with direct contact links to the founder of Acharya Mentoring.

Location - Ipswich. Face to face initially with a potential to move online if student is happy to.

Salary - Between £35-£40 per hour

Specialist mentors support students who are experiencing learning difficulties whilst studying at University. Mentors will work with students at either undergraduate or postgraduate level. Your role would be to address barriers presented to students as a result of their learning difficulties. Barriers can include feelings of depression and anxiety, time management, organisational skills, motivation, and many more. As a specialist mentor, you will work with your students to approach and improve on these barriers with tailored support. Techniques and strategies to overcome and manage barriers will be discussed and developed to provide a bespoke service, specific to the student's needs. As a specialist mentor, you are not providing a counselling service and may have to signpost where necessary to other professionals.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

- To deliver sessions throughout the academic year in accordance with Acharya Mentoring's guidance
- Implement planned sessions, including discussing techniques and strategies developed specifically with your student's needs in mind
- Maintain records of sessions, completing all relevant documentation including learning plans & timesheets, providing copies of these to Acharya Mentoring regularly
- Maintain record of own training and CPD requirements

**This is a self-employed post. You must be registered as self-employed and have a Unique Tax Reference (UTR).**

Desirable requirements:

- Experience of working within an environment supporting individuals with learning difficulties
- Experience of working within higher education
- Good communication skills

Additional information:
The role is freelance. This means hours will vary depending on how many students are allocated to you. You are able to manage your own schedule and will manage this effectively with the hours the student has been assessed as requiring per academic year.
