**SAFEGUARDING OFFICER**
**Responsible to**:Designated Safeguarding Lead [Deputy Head] **Grade**:8
**Hours**:37 hours per week - Term Time plus 3 INSET days **Duration**:8.30am-4.30pm
Mon - Thu and 08.00-4.00 Fri
**Main Location**:Faringdon Community College
**Context**:
Working as an integral part of the school safeguarding team, to implement and review safeguarding policies and procedures. Receive safeguarding referrals and coordinate a procedure which addresses and prioritises the needs of those affected by liaising with statutory agencies and pro-actively work with parents/carers and other agencies through joint planning and monitoring of their arrangements for the safeguarding of children.
**Key tasks**:
- Process the operational response to CPOMS posts - liaising with students, staff, parents, teachers and external agencies therein.
- Co-ordinate the operational process of student safeguarding plans (CP,CIN,TAF etc).
- Attending CHIN, CP Conference and Strategy Meetings as they arise and lead on the support plans to meet all safeguarding needs.
- Attend weekly safeguarding meetings with the FCC safeguarding team.
- To work alongside the DSL and Trust safeguarding Lead to regularly review all safeguarding policies, to ensure they are up to date and fit for purpose.
- To collaborate with the DSL and Trust Safeguarding Lead to drive the strategic plan for safeguarding at
FCC.
- Acting as a DDSL safe person for students who feel under threat from others, or students who may be experiencing difficulties especially supporting the care of students where their living arrangements are at risk of breakdown.
- Supporting the DSL in referring vulnerable students to the appropriate support services.
- Reporting weekly and termly on current safeguarding issues to ensure that policy and practice reflect our context and challenges.
- Acting as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff for all safety and safeguarding matters, including referrals and complaints.
- Modelling and embedding a culture amongst all staff of listening to students, ensuring that student’s feelings are heard and that the school puts measures in place to protect them.
- Modelling and embedding a culture of all staff being highly alert and vigilant to safeguarding concerns and potential risks - their “safeguarding brains” are on at all times.
- Attending and supporting with the Student Support Panels and the flow of communication.
- Main liaison with pastoral staff in initiating multi-agency referrals for students on EHR/TAC/TAF processes and interventions.
- Maintaining accurate, confidential and up-to-date documentation on all cases and supporting safeguarding team staff in doing the same.
- Coordinate the support and raise the profile of Young Carers across the school.
- Supporting with Risk Assessments for individual students, parents and staff.
- Supporting with the training and reviewing of Pastoral Support plans.
- Providing an effective interface between the school and other agencies and services.
- Responding appropriately to disclosures or concerns relating to the wellbeing of a student.
- Engage in regular CPD to maintain and bolster safeguarding knowledge.
- Line manage safeguarding administrator.
- Work with feeder Primary Schools to ensure a smooth transition for vulnerable students moving into
FCC Yr 7.
- Develop the safeguarding profile within school by ensuring posters are up to date around site, social media messaging to parents is accurate.
- Coordinating whole school safeguarding training.
- Supporting with the review and leadership of the school’s bi-termly safeguarding audits.
- Promoting the safety and protection of all students and managing all specific child protection issues in school, out of school and online.

- Use work items provided for you correctly, in accordance with training and instructions

- Report any health and safety concerns to your line manager as soon as practical
