Kilmarnock, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

An opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Locum Consultant in Orthodontics to complement the current team, three consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, two visiting consultants in Restorative Dentistry and six ENT Surgeons, who make up the Head and Neck Directorate. The post will be for one year in the first instance.

Orthodontics sits as a specialty within the Head & Neck Directorate within Surgical Services, part of Acute Services.

The department provides treatment and healthcare on an area basis for a population of approximately 388,000. The service is based at University Hospital Crosshouse with outpatient clinics being carried out at Ayrshire Central and University Hospital Ayr as a response to the pandemic, to ensure service continuity of on-treatment patients.

You will contribute to service requirements and may wish to develop your sub-specialty interest. You will also contribute to a proportionate share of the general work of the department.

In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.

The Department has expertise in Orthognathic Surgery, Surgical and Orthodontic management of impacted teeth (managed on regular joint operating lists), cleft lip and palate, non-surgical management of TMD, hypodontia and breathing dyspraxia. There is excellent support from the on-site Maxillofacial laboratory, chairside nursing and an experienced Orthodontic therapist.

The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and sessions are offered on a 10 PA basis. Applications from individuals who may wish to work fewer programmed activities are welcomed.

Interview date**:Monday 23rd January 2023
