**About the opportunity**:
Poundland, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Customs Operations Lead to join our Customs team.

As the Customs Operations Lead your primary responsibility will be to ensure strict compliance with HMRC regulations for all Customs activities pertaining to international shipments. This includes overseeing operations within existing Customs Warehouses and ensuring adherence to local regulations for inter-EU stock movements.

The role is fixed term for six months.

**What you'll be doing...**:

- Responsible for completing key fundamental tasks to ensure Poundland and Dealz remain compliant to HMRC and maintain Bonded Warehouse status
- Day to day management of stock being processed, covering Receipts and Removals using the Duty Management Software and Supporting Systems (Dispatcher, Oracle, MyMaersk)
- Ensure the CFSP Warehousing Rules are Followed, Monitored and Audited as per the SOP’s
- Investigating & Resolving any Warehouse CFSP Queries inline with the agreed SLA
- Check the Customs report and Supplier Invoices match - auditing the files checked
- Ensure Inventory Discrepancies are Investigated and Flagged and resolved
- Creating clear audit trails that are documented and filed when reviewing - HTS Codes, Import & Export Entries using MSS Data and HMRC Website
- Review and Action internal Data Governance Reports
- Collaborate with supply chain partners to streamline customs processes.
- Optimise customs procedures to enhance the overall supply chain efficiency.

- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the customs and trade compliance function.
- Provide training to internal teams on customs regulations and compliance.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with customs compliance.
- Implement processes to reduce the likelihood of customs-related issues.

**What you'll need... Qualifications, skills & knowledge**:
**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Highly analytical with excellent use of Microsoft Excel
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Customs Professional (CCP), are desirable.
- Knowledge of Customs Regulations:_
- In-depth understanding of international customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements.
- Analytical Skills:_
- Strong analytical abilities to assess and interpret complex customs documentation.
- Capability to analyse trade data and identify trends and opportunities.
- Attention to Detail:_
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate classification and documentation.
- Minimise the risk of errors and customs compliance issues.
- Communication Skills:_
- Effective communication skills to liaise with customs authorities, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to articulate customs-related information clearly and concisely.
- Problem-Solving:_
- Proactive problem-solving skills to address customs-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Ability to devise solutions for compliance challenges.
- Risk Management:_
- Skills in assessing and mitigating risks associated with customs compliance.
- Implementing strategies to reduce exposure to customs-related risks.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in customs compliance, international trade, or supply chain management is typically required.
- Experience of working with bonded warehouse.
- Progressive experience in customs-related roles, with a proven track record of success.
- Familiarity with legal aspects of international trade and customs regulations.
