More detail about the role Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was established in April 2022, bringing together the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust. The departments of Gastroenterology and Hepatology are now integrated providing core services to a population of 615,000 and specialist services to a wider population across the South West Peninsula. Consultants deliver face-to-face, and virtual care from both Barnstaple and Exeter sites.
Our Gastroenterology department is friendly, successful and ambitious. The Royal Devon is committed to developing services in Barnstaple and wants to bring the very best clinicians to Devon. Consultants are supported by an established team of IBD, hepatology and nutrition specialist nurses and by nationally recognised surgical teams. The Trust has an electronic patient record (EPIC), a multi-million-pound research facility, a significant development budget and big plans for the future.
The Trust supports new consultants to develop innovative new services and to pursue research and teaching interests. We are based in Devon in the South West of England; a county renowned for its natural beauty, schools, infrastructure and quality of life.
