Well, for a start, we’re a hugely ambitious council, committed to improving lives for the residents, communities and businesses of Somerset.

And that’s why we’re working so hard to build a sustainable organisation with a culture that rewards, values and recognises our staff, and gives everyone here the opportunity to grow and develop, personally and professionally.

If you’re looking for a place where you work truly matters - where YOU truly matter - we might be just right for you.

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset - and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
If you haven’t visited a Library in a while, you may not fully appreciate what we offer. Libraries are about books and so much more, from Lego groups and Code Clubs to IT courses and Baby Boogie sessions, plus anything and everything to do with reading for pleasure. You will be more likely to organise a Harry Potter party and tweet about it than say ‘Shhh’.

From day one, you’ll be working in a customer centred, busy community hub that serves a diverse range of people, partners, and organisations. Your day-to-day work will involve:

- Encouraging a love of reading through a range of promotional activities.
- Providing a welcoming environment to our customers.
- Working in a team, dealing with enquiries and requests, planning and delivering interactive activities, and promoting our services.

**What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?**
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
will really help if you:

- Have a wide general knowledge, an interest in books, and a digital curiosity
- Are hard-working and receptive to change
- Are confident in the use of digital technology. You will be helping customers to use our equipment and their own.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

**What will I be offered in return?**
We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset.

We offer great training and development opportunities, with supportive management. As well as this, we have some fantastic employee benefits available:
