**The Position**:
The duties you will be performing as part of your role:

- Conducting impactful outreach work with individuals facing rough sleeping or at risk, including those in hospitals, to facilitate a smooth return home.
- Offering comprehensive housing options, advice, and guidance to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk, focusing on early intervention and prevention.
- Providing essential support through the provision of temporary accommodation, including the management of private sector leased properties.
- Conducting insightful interviews to understand the unique financial needs of individuals, delivering tailored advice on benefits entitlement administered by both national and local government.
- Assessing claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction in adherence to national legislation, Council policies, and procedures.
- Building positive relationships with clients by effectively addressing queries related to their claim for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction.
- Upholding accuracy and fairness through diligent in-claim reviews, ensuring the right award is made to the right person at the right time.
- Continuously improving processes by reviewing or superseding decisions based on new information provided by clients.
- Proactively identifying and addressing potential irregularities by referring claims to the Single Fraud Investigation Service (SFIS), demonstrating a commitment to integrity.
- Collaborating with the SFIS by responding to requests for information/evidence and queries, and implementing investigation outcome decisions.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

- A solid understanding of the legislation governing decision-making for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Financial Support schemes, including Homeless Prevention Grants.
- Exceptional listening and communication skills, with the ability to engage with individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds, fostering positive interactions.
- Proven experience in explaining complex issues confidently, whether in face-to-face, telephone-based, or video-based environments.
- Strong time management skills, with the capability to thrive under pressure, prioritise tasks effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Demonstrated capability to work seamlessly within a team while also possessing the initiative to work independently when required, maintaining professionalism throughout.
- A keen understanding of the importance of confidentiality, safe practice, and safeguarding, ensuring the well-being of clients and adhering to ethical standards.
- A solid educational background enabling the creation of articulate letters and proficiency in basic arithmetic.
- Possession of a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for undertaking home visits across the Borough, showcasing a commitment to providing comprehensive support.

**Contract Duration**:3 Months (likely extension)

**Hourly Rate**:£24 (Umbrella)

**Commencement Date**: February 2024

**Work Hours: Hybrid **37 Hours, Monday - Friday / 9 am - 5 pm
