**Role responsibilities**:

- Work on SQL Server Installations, Configuration, Upgrades, Migrations and Patching
- Work on Backups & Restores
- Be responsible for Installing, Configuring and Supporting HA/DR Environments and replication (SQL Always On, AWS HA/DR, AWS DMS or similar.)
- Work on Performance Investigation and Tuning
- Be responsible for AWS Cloud Support (AWS EC2 instance, Managed Instance, SQL Server Database, Aurora MySQL.)
- Take part in further ongoing training via the Pluralsight

**Skills required**:

- DBA experience with administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments
- A good understanding of database maintenance operations, security configuration and basic trouble shooting skills
- Ability to communicate with user community, project management, developers, contractors, and all levels of management
- Basic T-SQL skills (or similar) i.e. writing and executing queries
- Have excellent communications skills
- Must be self-motivated and eager to learn

**Desirable skills**:

- Experience with SQL Server high availability features (or similar)
- Experience of any other SQL Server components (or similar)
- Experience working within cloud environments
- Experience with any other database technologies
