Derby, United Kingdom SEVERN TRENT Full time

What do you get if you cross an award winning, innovative, water company and over 300 dedicated team members? Our Design team of course

Our ambitious and innovative projects (all 5000+ of them) help to combat the challenges of waste and water infrastructure, flooding and water quality. Being part of our inhouse designers means we can do the best by our customers and our water.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

**Sitting within the Design Excellence function of the Capital Design and Delivery Department, this role will be accountable for determining the techniques, templates, tools and processes required to establish and improve the departments design standards specifically related to hydraulic(s) engineering.**

**EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW**

Reporting to the Design Excellence Lead, this role will explore the opportunity to adopt new techniques and technologies for the capital programme. With significant technical hydraulic experience at leadership level, you will set, maintain, and raise the standards within the design function. You will design training programmes, develop our junior talent, drive innovation and act as the ‘go-to’ person for all hydraulic(s) related queries within the design function.

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE**

You will have experience in providing technical leadership to a large programme of capital works, with a strong ability to lead input into multiple projects. You will have experience of leading a team of hydraulic engineers, with a background in hydraulic design from feasibility through detailed design, construction and commissioning. Ideally with some experience in utilities, and effective at integrating within a matrix organisation, you will be a technical expert in all things hydraulics including free surface flow hydraulic design, gravity and pump system hydraulic design and hydraulic modelling software such as Hades, Infoworks or Varisim.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

**We do more, because we care.**

**WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU**

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too. We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the community in which we live. Here’s some of our favourites:

- 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 additional days per year)
- Annual bonus scheme (of up to 2,250 depending on company performance)
- Leading pension scheme - we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
- Sharesave - the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate
- Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
- Family friendly policies
- Two volunteering days per year

**WHAT’S NEXT**

**We can’t wait to hear from you.**
