Technical Author / Document Writer

**Grantham £30k - £34k Full-time Permanent**

**Working hours**: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4 Friday 8 to 12, including home working. One day per week in the office.

Established in 1991, this highly respected business has since grown from a traditional Technical Publications provider to become one of the UK’s leading providers of Product Support Services.

They are now a leading supplier of support services to Defence companies around the World.

Due to the company’s continued success and growth, they are looking for additional Technical Authors to produce technical documentation and keep the technical documents up to date with their customers.

The Technical Author is responsible for the production of technical documentation.

We are looking for someone with the ability to interpret technical information, including drawings, and present it as useful and informative technical publications.

The Technical Author will be responsible for managing small projects and reports to the Project Managers / Senior Technical Authors when working for them.

**What will you be doing day to day**:

- Production of technical publications
- On small projects to act as Project Manager with the responsibilities of that role
- Carry out research to obtain source information for use in technical documentation
- Carrying out independent quality checks on other authors’ work in accordance with the procedures in the quality manual
- To travel and work at customer’s sites as required (this may include overseas travel)

**Who we are looking for**:
You will ideally be doing the role already or possess the necessary qualities to be trained in the role.
- The ability to interpret technical information, including drawings, and present it as useful and informative technical publications
- Experience of word processing and other software packages that are used in the production of technical documentation
- Technical qualifications appropriate to the types of projects which they will be involved with
- The ability to work well within a multi-skilled team
