**Job Description - General Assistant**

**Job Title**: General Assistant

**Remuneration**:£10.94 per hour

**Hours of Work**: 30 hours per week - to include evenings and weekends

**Responsible to**: Development Manager

Work as part of a team to assist and support the day‑to‑day running of the Charity. Ensure a professional, friendly, welcome to all children, young people and members of the community.

**Key Responsibilities**Set up rooms for group users; check and tidy away items of equipment, including chairs and tables.Ensure group user’s and individuals’ needs are met.Undertake kitchen/catering duties including working to Health & Hygiene regulations and other requirements regarding room bookings, activities and events.Assist in taking room bookings using an IT system and deal with cash, card and cheque payments.Deal with day‑to‑day enquiries.Act as a key‑holder responsible for the opening, closing and security of the building.Ensure all areas of the building are kept in a safe, clean and hygienic condition and report any defects and repairs promptly.Report any concerns regarding safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.Maintain a flexible approach to work and undertake any other reasonable and appropriate duties, as required.Participate in training and development, as required.Be aware of and implement relevant Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club’s policies in respect of Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Code of Conduct.Be responsible for oneself and others in respect of health and safety.

**Person Specification - General Assistant**

**Personal Skills**
- Enthusiastic, self‑motivated and committed to working to a high standard.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to be flexible with regards to workload and shifts worked.
- Ability to work as part of a Team of paid and voluntary staff.
- Must be reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Be physically fit, as required to lift chairs and tables, etc.

**Knowledge and Experience**
- Have a basic knowledge of IT and admin procedures.
- Preferably have experience of working in a kitchen/community setting.
- First aid/health and food hygiene certificates preferred, although training will be provided.

**Circumstance**
- The successful applicant will undergo checks with the Disclosure Barring Service.

**Salary**: £10.94 per hour

Schedule:

- Every weekend
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Worcester: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
- Administrative experience: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
