**The Person**:
- Minimum Grade C in both English and Maths at GCSE/ O’ Level or equivalent
- Accurate and precise record keeping.
- Ability to follow written instructions precisely.
- An understanding of the need for cleanliness and vessel integrity in fermentation processes.
- Ability to participate in an out-of-hours call-out system including weekend working on a scheduled rota basis.
- 2-year experience within a process industry such as brewing, food or chemical process is preferred, although chemical engineering/ biotechnology/microbiology graduates would also be considered.
**The Job**:
**Job Role**:
To carry out all processes related to fermentation and freeze-drying. To accurately record process data. To participate in problem-solving and process improvement plans. To maintain the plant in a clean, tidy, and hygienic condition. To develop and maintain beneficial relationships with all other relevant departments.
**Tasks**:
To carry out sterilisation and harvest processes of fermentations.
Weighing out of raw materials for media mix and cryopreservative addition.
Control and monitor freeze dryer cycles.
Load/unload freeze dryer and grind and blend product.
Recording of data for process operations.
Problem solving in the event of freeze drying or fermentation issues.
Cleaning of freeze dryer, process rooms and fermentation plant and equipment.
Maintenance and monitoring of dosing pumps, filters, refrigeration plant and other process equipment.
Assist in the planning of the production schedule and in investigations related to the resolution of manufacturing and/or product problems
Assist in the identification and implementation of process improvements.
Operation, maintenance and monitoring of steam boiler plant.
General housekeeping.
Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
Ensure assigned work is carried out in a timely manner following the relevant procedures working to the required ISO9001 and relevant health and safety standards.
Compliance with company health, safety, environmental and quality systems.
To fulfill other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required within the role.
**Salary**: Up to £25,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
