Applications are invited for the permanent position of Consultant in Public Health/ Public Health Medicine commencing as soon as possible.

The Department of Public Health at Derby City Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant in Public Health/Public Health Medicine to join our team on a permanent basis. Whilst working across a range of service areas, the role will primarily focus on Healthcare Public Health and will work in partnership with other stakeholders and service providers helping to deliver the Council’s public health functions and priorities.

Derby is a thriving, culturally diverse city in the East Midlands with much to offer to those who live and work here. The city also faces considerable public health challenges. Your role will be to provide public health leadership and expertise to help improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities of the local population.

This is an exciting, albeit challenging, time for Derby. Local partners across health and care are committed to working together to transform the local system to ensure sustainability and to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population whilst also reducing health inequalities. This commitment to working collaboratively has been further strengthened through the local COVID response and establishment of Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care System.

This post is at a senior level within the Public Health Department, being a key member of its senior management team. This will require you to deputise for the Director of Public Health as required.
