In the role of Head of Strategic Insight you will be instrumental in helping The National Archives to achieve its ambitions. You’ll have a keen eye on the big picture and know how to help an organisation translate insight into action. You will focus and sharpen our strategic thinking, ask and answer the critical questions and foster an approach to using our management information that ensures our decision-making is based on the best available evidence.

This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site.

Essential criteria:

- Excellent skills in conveying and presenting complex information, with a demonstrable ability to do this in creative and innovative ways
- Excellent judgement with a proven ability to analyse and interpret evidence, determine its value and through this make a telling contribution to strategic decision making
- Demonstrable ability and confidence to communicate, engage, challenge and persuade at senior levels, particularly in the context of answering big and/or strategically important questions
- Excellent skills as a relationship-builder and collaborator, with a track record of achieving good outcomes through partnership
- Significant experience in manipulating large and/or complex data sets
- The capability to develop expert knowledge of the information generated and held by The National Archives and the systems within which it is maintained
- Strong leadership and management skills, with significant experience in managing, mentoring, coaching and motivating people to deliver successful outcomes, with the ability to influence others to build in-house capability and expertise
