Holy Cross Hospital is a 40 bedded hospital in Haslemere, set in its own beautiful grounds, which provides long term care for patients with acquired brain injuries and complex care needs. The hospital employs about 160 people.

The HR team consists of the HR Manager, HR Officer and 2 part time HR Admin Assistants - all working together to deliver an efficient, effective and friendly HR service to managers and employees.

We are looking for a temporary HR office to cover a period of absence who can 'hit the ground running' and fit into the existing team. You will have 'can do' attitude and be happy to get on with whatever needs doing from covering HR admin tasks to more complex ER matters.

The HR Officer will provide generalist advice, guidance and support to Managers/Supervisors and Employees. They will oversee the work of the HR Administration Assistants, providing supervision and guidance as required, and be responsible for delivering a proactive, efficient, and effective HR service. The HRO will assist with the development of the HR function of the organisation to increase efficiency and facilitate change to meet regulatory requirements.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

1 Provide generalist HR advice, guidance & support to the Hospital Management Team & Managers/Supervisors on a range of employee relations matters, including: Disciplinary investigations, meetings, and appeals (up to Final Written Warning) Grievance investigations and meetings.

2 Establish and build effective relationships with management and employees

3 Oversee the work of the HR Admin Assistants and provide support & guidance to them, including regular appraisals/reviews.

4 Recruitment advertising. Liaising with the nominated advertising agency and Information Services Manager for website and social media advertising. Participate in recruitment interviews, as appropriate.

5 All aspects of on-boarding and exiting staff procedures.

6 Preparing contract changes where required.

7 Overseeing the maintenance of personnel records and files including archiving of records & regular audit to ensure compliance with ensure compliance with Employment Law, regulatory bodies and Hospital policies.

8 Actively participate in the development, simplification and continuous improvement of HR policies and practices, assisting with HR projects and initiatives as required.

9 Work closely with the Occupational Health Service provider including new staff health clearances, arranging O.H. clinics, follow up appointments and checking O.H. invoices.

10 Assist the development/review of H.R. policies to comply with all requirements with reference to best practice, employment law and Care Quality Commission,

and ensure staff handbook is kept up to date, issuing updates to staff as required.

11 Participate in regular handover sessions with HR Manager/HR administration assistants.

12 Assistance to HR Manager with regard to any other projects and any such duties as reasonably requested.

13 Attend meetings as required.

14 Provide cover when other team members are on annual leave or absent.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Experience**:

- Human resources: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
