Shropshire Powder Coaters

Shropshire Powder Coaters are specialist powder coaters and shot blasters based in Oswestry, Shropshire. We were formed in 2011 by our parent company Hereford Galvanizers Ltd and along with our sister plant Shropshire Galvanizers offer a comprehensive corrosion protection system for mild steel and other metals.

We coat metalwork from trade and private individuals alike and pride ourselves on our friendly approachable service, our quality and our flexibility. The variety of items we coat varies from old domestic radiators and sculptures to commercial fencing and structural beams.

**POWDER COATING OPERATIVE**

Applicants must be happy to work shifts. Hours of work 2 weekly rotating shift patterns 06.00 - 14.00 and 14.00 - 22.00 Monday - Friday.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

(I) Receiving material coming into the plant.

(II) To be able to distinguish between “process materials” and “materials for Powder Coating.

(III) To inspect materials for suitability in accordance with the pre-process checking procedure.

(IV) Check incoming advice/delivery notes.

(V) Unload vehicles paying due care to avoid damages and store on yard in a safe and suitable manner. Attach ID labels.

(VII) Load onto conveyor in a safe manner suitable for processing, fully utilising conveyor capacity.

(VIII) Transport work piece into drying oven.

(IX) When dry transport work piece from drying oven to spray booth and coat in accordance with procedure.

(X) Transport work piece to curing index section.

(XI) At appropriate time load curing oven set curing oven taking into consideration material and powder applied.

(XII) Following completion of curing remove work piece to off-loading index section.

(XIII) Inspect material, isolating any rejects, stack, paying attention to packaging products, secure batch in a suitable manner. Attach ID labels and store for despatch.

**POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION**

(I) Directly responsible to:

- Powder Coating Manager.

**AREAS OF RESPONSIBILTY**

(I) Initial inspection.

(II) Ensure at all times that products are to the required quality standard and that their status is indicated.

(III) Report immediately any malfunction of equipment, where appropriate call out engineers to carry out repairs.

(IV) Report accidents and “near misses” on shift.

(V) Making himself available for overtime when required.

(VI) The strict adherence to Company rules at all times.

**KEY TASKS**

(I) Preparation and handling of materials.

(II) Carry out visual inspection of incoming goods and finished product.

**HEALTH SAFETY**

All employees are responsible for:

- a) Making themselves familiar with the Company Health & Safety Policy, Safety Rules & Procedures.

b) Taking all due care for the health & safety of both themselves and their fellow employee.

c) Observing Company Safety Rules and Safe Working Practices at all times.

d) Wearing and using appropriate protective equipment as required.

e) Co-operating with the Company in the implementation and observation of all statutory requirements.

f) Not misusing or interfering with anything provided by the Company in the interest of Health & Safety at work.

g) Reporting all accidents or hazards outside their personal control to their immediate supervisor.

In addition to any disciplinary action, which may be taken for breaches of personal responsibility for Health & Safety, in the case of breaches of statutory requirements individuals may be held personally responsible under the law.
