**Hours of Work: Minimum 40 hours per week on a set rota to include two weekends within a four week period**
Are you looking to advance your career in the animal welfare sector working within a busy environment, then this could be the ideal position for you. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of animals at our shelter which holds up to 300 animals at any time.
You will work as part of team with the Animal Care Manager, Senior Supervisor and Vet Nurse on the day to day running of the Centre in relation to all aspects of animal care as well as highlighting areas in need of improvement, ideas and solutions for better working practices and promotion of rehoming.
**Key Tasks / Job Description**
You will work as part of the Animal care team in all aspects of cleaning, feeding and daily care of animals within the centre.
- **You will be required to drive the Charity’s vehicle and due to this requirement our insurance policy states that drivers will need to be 25 years or older.**_
In addition the specific supervisor responsibilities are:
- Day to day responsibility of supervising staff, Animal Care Officers and Assistants, volunteers and students within their designated work areas
- To be the first point of contact in the absence of the Vet Nurse for Animal Care Officers, Assistants & Volunteers in assessing the welfare of an animal when necessary
- To carry out daily checks to animal accommodation and other areas when necessary
- To deputise for the Senior Supervisor & Animal Care Manager in times of absence working with the Centre Manager
- To ensure the daily rota has been prepared by the end of the working day
- To ensure that all staff and volunteers work in accordance with CRRC rota wherever possible
- To ensure all staff and volunteers meet with expected cleaning standards
- All staff to complete their work within a reasonable timescale which will be set by the Supervisors
- To reorganize staff and volunteers when necessary
- To identify areas of training where needed for new, existing staff and volunteers and liaise with the Animal Care Manager
- To ensure staff carry out health checks within their designated areas and in accordance with the CRRC rota
- Lead by example and model a positive and professional attitude to work and encourage the same in staff and volunteers
- Report any staff issues to Management or in their absence Senior Supervisor including any concerns/injuries/accidents.
- Work out of normal hours where required in the interest of the animals or to attend meetings.

**Animal Care**
- To carry out health checks to animals within your designated areas
- To ensure on-going assessment, in conjunction with the vet nurse and/or other staff, of animals in respect of their health, welfare and general condition. To draw attention to an animal not considered to be fully healthy or considered to require veterinary attention
- To administer and record medication detailed on the pen and the database
- To attend to the needs of individual animals, including feeding and grooming
- All cats to be kept up to date with fleaing and worming and recorded on cards
- Ensure all animals are scanned to check for ownership
- To ensure that the relevant animals are microchipped and vaccinated with all necessary paperwork
- To be fully aware, understand and comply with all CRRC rehoming, bonding policies and work ethics at all times and to remain aware of all changes to these when they occur as instructed by Management
- To assess characteristics and personality for rehoming purposes in conjunction with CRRC policies
- To be to able deal with the general public effectively and confidentially in accordance with all CRRC policies ensuring there are no breaches of GDPR all paperwork with any client details on is filed correctly
- To clean, disinfect and maintain to a high standard of cleanliness to the animal pens with a physical capability to carry this out in accordance with CRRC cleaning guidelines
**Administration**
- All movements of animals to be recorded on database
- Follow Transfer of Ownership and Adoption Policies ensuring all data is accurately recorded on database
- To advise members of the public on aspects of rehoming and provide animal care advice
**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
**Essential**:
- Over 25 to be able to drive the company vehicle (insurance restriction)
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Minimum experience of three years working in the animal care sector
- Experience of working with the general public face to face and over the phone
- To be computer literate
- Good administrative skills
- The ability to multi task
- Flexible approach to work duties
