Pharmacy Dispenser

Lancashire Hospital Services is looking to recruit an NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispenser to join our outpatient hospital team. We’re looking for both a full or a part time person.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in a hospital setting, develop their skills and progress their career in a supportive and friendly environment. Experience within a hospital is not essential.
We have three pharmacies. Two of these are based within Royal Preston Hospital and a third at Chorley and South Ribble District Hospital.
Duties and responsibilities would include task such as
- Accurately dispensing medicines for patients according to their prescription, ensuring each is checked by our pharmacist or ACT
- Receiving medicines from suppliers and checking against the order correctly identifying any errors, whilst taking appropriate action
- Ensuring medicines are stored correctly and according to their manufacturer recommendations
- Assist with the control and monitoring of medicines stored in the pharmacy and be involved in the procurement of medicines
- Ensuring stock rotation is carried out in a timely manner and identifying short dated and expired medicines
- Maintain records of the purchase, storage, and supply of medicines in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure others can carry out their work efficiently
The successful post holder will be based within a pharmacy department and activities will require regular interaction with health professionals within other departments of the hospital.
Who are we looking for?
- Somebody with previous pharmacy experience
- Someone with a minimum of their NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
- Somebody who has an interest in a patient facing role and is looking to make a difference
