**Your new role**
National Highways currently has a new opportunity for a Principal Advisor and team leader to join our team within Safety, Engineering and Standards directorate.

We are transforming our asset management approach and delivering the Asset Management Transformation Programme (AMTP) over the current road period. The AMTP includes a dedicated area of work to improve our asset information, including delivering an Asset Management System Strategy and Roadmap to transform our system and tools used to support asset management decision making; supported by improved data and information governance to improve our access to the right information and data to better inform our investment decisions.

As part of the transformation, we are replacing a number of our asset management systems and tools to ensure that we provide improved access to the data and information needed to maintain and renew our key assets. This position will provide leadership to these ongoing projects, ensuring they are delivered and subsequently supported in line with our asset management and system strategies.

**What you’ll be leading on**

We require a Principal Advisor who will have a specific focus on:

- Managing the delivery of key asset management system replacement projects including pavements, geotechnics and drainage replacements and future provision such as street lighting, VRS and environment
- Leading development and delivery of the case for decision support tools, ensuring that user needs are met across renewal programme development and future investment requirements.
- Guide work to improve the quality of the data during data migration processes.
- Build and lead a team to provide in-house delivery and support function for asset management systems and tools
- Work with Digital Services to ensure system and tools are fit for purpose, with system enhancements identified and delivered
- Support the collaborative development of our strategic approach to implement the company’s asset management system strategy and related roadmap.

You will:

- Lead the development and delivery of AM system and tools replacement projects, ensuring projects complete to time and budget, whilst minimising risks
- Develop system level business cases to secure the required investments to replace systems in line with the AM system strategy.
- Manage project suppliers by establishing and maintaining appropriate governance to ensure appropriate performance to meet project milestones
- Lead stakeholder relationships to ensure system and tools user needs across the company are met
- Manage relationships with Digital Services to ensure all project governance requirements are met and that appropriate Digital Services support is secured for project delivery and ongoing operation.
- Manage project portfolio budgets and risks, resolving or escalating project risks and budgeting issues.
- Build and manage the National Highways AMDG systems team to ensure people’s performance, support and wellbeing requirements are met.

**To be successful**
- Have extensive and relevant experience of leading delivery of asset management systems/tools.
- Proven project management experience with direct responsibility of leading the procurement and delivery of complex technical projects.
- Proven experience of providing specialist advice, guidance, and coaching in a specific technical or expertise discipline.
- Evidence of managing internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate with others to set standards and implement best practices, whilst dealing constructively with setbacks.
