**QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING**
**ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE**
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Existing National Award for SEN co-ordination
- qualification- National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a
willingness to complete it within 3 years of
- appointment- Degree or equivalent qualification
**PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING**
**ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE**
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice - A sound knowledge of how to track progress in small
- steps for pupils with SEND- Understanding of what makes ‘quality first’
teaching, and of effective intervention strategies
- Strong working knowledge of the National
- Curriculum- Knowledge of current legislation regarding
effectively for all pupils
- A strong understanding of ACEs and supporting
children with complex needs
- Ability to track and interpret student data for
achievement and use this data to plan appropriate
provision
**EXPERIENCE**
**ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE**
- Significant class teaching experience - Experience of planning and evaluating interventions
- Involvement in self-evaluation and development
- Experience of leading impactful change at a whole
planning
school level
- Experience of conducting training/leading INSET
- Experience of contributing to or completing
- Experience of completing the APDR process EHCP/EHA/Neuro Diverse Pathway documents &
- Experience of working alongside external agencies,
such as Occupational Therapists/Vision & Hearing
Support/Educational Psychology Team etc.
