Main duties of the job

Passionate about midwifery? Do you want to use all of your midwifery skills? NUH may well be the place for you. Due to exciting developments within the maternity service we are looking for motivated midwives to join our community midwifery team.

You will need to be a Band 6 midwife and confident to work autonomously in the community and within the hospital.

You will be based in the community providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. We are committed to implementing Better Births across our maternity services.

Working for our organisation

A community midwife is expected to cover a range of shifts including weekends, bank holidays and nights.

Various hours are available for this post.

You will be a car driver/owner with a clean driving licence

A midwife who will provide high standards of clinical care throughout the pregnancy continuum. You
will have recent Intrapartum experience in either a labour suite, an AMU or home birth environment.
You will fulfil the role of an active member of the midwifery team and provide evidence of continuing
professional development and clinical experience.

Essential criteria
- Registered and Practising Midwife

Desirable criteria
- Completed the SSSA course

Experience

Essential criteria
- Experience with dealing with safeguarding issues
- Experience of working with vulnerable families
- Evidence of team working

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of working in the community
- Demonstrate evidence of lone working

Communication

Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience of different IT systems
- Evidence of multi disciplinary team working

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of audit and research
- Evidence of using systm one and medway

Planning and organisation skills

Essential criteria
- Able to respond, prioritise and analyse complex problems or situations
- Can respond to planned and unplanned situations and take the lead in emergencies
- Must be flexible to move geographical bases across the service as required
- Ability to priotise and have effective time management skills

Other

Essential criteria
- Current UK driving licence and sole use of a car
