Darlington, United Kingdom Department of International Trade Full time

The impact of our communication and marketing activity is greatly enhanced when it’s informed by insight, and reviewed through effective, action-oriented evaluation principles.

The Head of Insight and Evaluation is pivotal in leading this important area for the Communications and Marketing Directorate — working closely with expert practitioners and specialists across the Department and with external partner agencies.

This leadership role will define a framework for running research projects aligned to strategic priorities defined within the Communications and Marketing Directorate.

Identifying specialist agency partners, overseeing the procurement process and ensuring effective agency management to deliver to set project requirements is an area of responsibility for this post.

As a key leadership role, this post will provide the expertise required to guide a team of research, insight and evaluation specialists to carry out a varied range of interesting research projects.

To elevate awareness around the importance of being an insight led directorate, this role will need to design and implement a suite of initiatives that champion the importance of insight and evaluation; part of this outreach will require a comprehensive range of training and workshop opportunities to education colleagues.

A natural relationship builder — the post holder will forge relationships with a broad range of stakeholders across the department, international Post colleagues and Government departments to promote, contribute to and influence policy and decision making around the discipline of Insights and Evaluation, and to drive a collaborative culture across teams and departments.

The Head of Insight and Evaluation will lead on the creation of a directorate wide insight and evaluation model that presents an outcomes focused approach, to demonstrate the value and impact of the directorates collective communications and marketing efforts.
