**Highways Ganger / Team Leader Operative**

**Congleton, CW12 1RG**

**Full Time: 40 hours per week, 07:30am - 16:00pm**

We are working with a leading highways term maintenance company to recruit a Highways Ganger/ Team Leader Operative.

The main purpose of the role is to assist, generally as part of a team, in delivering highway maintenance and construction works.

The role will contribute to managing and directing a small maintenance team, overseeing a variety of tasks including carriageway and footway maintenance, drainage maintenance, soft estate upkeep, and minor civils works. All responsibilities will be carried out in a safe and sustainable manner.

**The Role**
- Work as part of the highway maintenance operational team.
- Manage and direct a small highway maintenance team.
- Carry out and take responsibility for a variety of skilled tasks including carriageway, footway, drainage maintenance, soft estate maintenance works (e.g. grass cutting, strimming etc) and minor civils works (e.g. setting out, paving, kerb installation, signage works etc.)
- Ensure that all works are completed safely.
- Receive daily briefings and understand risks and control measures required for the task to communicate to other members of the team.
- Complete daily record sheets and associated documents; including, site specific risk assessments assessing the safe systems of work.
- Ensure that works are completed to the required standard and within required timescales.
- Report health, safety, environmental and quality concerns, near misses and suggestions.
- Ensure waste is dealt with in the appropriate manner.
- Participate in out-of-hours winter maintenance and emergency response activities on a rota basis.
- Other Ad Hoc duties to fulfil the requirement of the role

**About You**
- Highway’s maintenance experience.
- A current, valid driving licence is essential, with LGV class 2 as desirable.
- Able to carry out safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessments.
- Able to take responsibility for traffic management, 12 A/B Traffic Management.
- A good understanding of health and safety and its impact on the workplace.
- Demonstrate awareness of environmental aspects and impacts and waste management.
