**The Company**:

- A printer and convertor of barrier and laminate film products is looking for a Technical Specialist to join their team. Paying £45,000 - £50,000pa depending on experience.

Job Description of the Technical Specialist:

- The company are currently looking for ambitious, committed, and enthusiastic individual to join their R&D Team. Working predominantly on days, you will be responsible for trial and validation activities in support of the Production Department whilst providingkey analytical information.
- Support the development and launch of new products and processes to meet both market and internal requirements.

**Key Responsibility of the Technical Specialist**:

- Support production trials for production scale-up of new products
- Assist with validations of new materials and/or suppliers, including processes such as printing, coating, lamination and laser scoring.
- Be able to assist with Technical Datasheet creation, Declaration of Compliance and customer specification paperwork
- Work with Quality team members in relation to testing plans and quality issues to learn all required product testing methods in order to be able to test new raw materials or finished products as required
- Support production department in optimising processes to maximise manufacturing efficiency, product quality and performance whilst minimising waste
- Liaising with all departments to ensure trials are completed promptly and right first time
- Putting purchase specifications in place for all materials and components
- Update technical procedures and works instructions to ensure quality and safety, with compliance to BRC and ISO14001, and assisting with site audits as required
- Maintain a samples library of print and materials for the external sales teams
- Assess different grades of raw material (i.e. inks, polymers and film) to support both product development and process improvement initiatives
- Evaluation of existing products looking for opportunities in line performance improvement and also reducing costs
- Promote a safe working environment.

**Skills & Experience**:

- Ideally with a degree in a scientific discipline preferably with a bias towards materials, polymers or packaging, however consideration would also be for experience without degree of working in a technical or process role within the packaging industry,ideally flexible packaging, lamination and/or film extrusion
- Able to demonstrate good technical knowledge combined with proven expertise in process development and product development.
- Results driven - able to meet and exceed project timescales and targets.
- A demonstrable experience in production of flexible packaging, printing, lamination or film extrusion, or a supporting function, would be of interest.
- Experience would be beneficial of working in a Quality certified business - ISO 9001:2000, BRC or similar.
- Team player, but with ability to work on own direction to meet project timescales and targets.
- Good computer skills and MS Office experience would be preferred.
- Competency in SAP would be beneficial, however is not mandatory as all training will be provided.

**Salary**:

- £45,000 to £50,000 pa depending on experience plus car.
