**Who are we?**

St. John’s is a non-maintained specialist provision, working with autistic people, the majority of whom also have learning disabilities. Some of our learners have co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, or mental health needs. We also support autistic learners who have an additional profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) syndrome. We have a team built up of support workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, PBS practitioners, assistant psychologists, and more, to support us in our holistic approach to development.

Each learner’s curriculum is shaped by their individual strengths, interests, and challenges. St. John’s is awarded with Autism Accreditation by the National Autistic Society (NAS). We support our learners to develop their skills in the NAS’s four focus areas of:

- Difference in social communication and interaction
- Selfreliance and problem-solving
- Sensory
- Emotional Wellbeing

**What are we looking for?**

NEBOSH is desirable but not essential

**What will you be doing?**
- Providing the role of 'Responsible Person' in respect of the organisation' legal compliance with regard to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Work with the Estates Manager and St. John’s Health and Safety Consultant and in the formation, delivery and monitoring of a 5year Health and Safety Plan including annual objectives.
- Maintaining, reviewing and communicating all aspects of the charity's safety management system as per safety plan schedule including all risk assessments and safe working procedures.
- Conducting workplace and work activity safety inspections as per safety plan schedule
- Developing effective relationships with stakeholders, workplace managers and supervisors to ensure that the safety components of their work activities and responsibilities are met
- Organising and hosting the organisation's Safety Forum meeting each month

Carry out H&S tasks as recommended by the H&S Consultant and liaise regularly appropriate on all H&S matters.
