Thank you for your interest in our job vacancy. Threshfield Primary School is small school situated in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We have an opportunity for a General Teaching Assistant or Advanced Teaching Assistant to join our team.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils, whilst implementing clear boundaries and routines. Working with the class teacher to support the children, small groups and using behaviour management in all areas around school, you will be passionate about teaching and learning, and will believe in developing the true potential of all our children.
We are looking people with a minimum Level 2 NVQ qualification or equivalent.
Advanced Teaching Assistant to work across the school from 8:50 to 13:00 Monday to Friday term time only. Pay is pro-rata across 12mths. 12:00 - 13:00 will be carrying out lunchtime duties.
Post: Advanced Teaching Assistant Responsible to: Headteacher
Duties: This job description describes in general terms the normal duties that the post-holder will be expected to undertake.
Note: In this job description reference has been made to the 24 non-teaching tasks that should have been transferred from teachers to support staff by September 2003.
Teaching and learning
1. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Headteacher, SENCO and class teachers
2. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for pupils and help monitor their progress
3. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
4. Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary
5. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
6. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills
Administrative duties
1. Prepare and present displays of students' work
2. Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching
3. Undertake other duties from time to time as the Headteacher requires
4. Standards and quality assurance
5. Support the aims and ethos of the school
6. Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
7. Attend team and staff meetings
8. Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Headteacher such as playground duty
9. Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
