**About the Service / Department**
Mental Health Lounge Recovery Worker is an exciting new role based in **St Mary's Hospital, Paddington** to provide crisis support through;
- 1 sessions/coping mechanisms e.g. Grounding techniques
- Assertively connecting to Hestia's CNWL Cove services (especially KCW Cove which is based locally to ) following the interaction with the SU in the Lounge and for follow up to be provided by the Coves and Mental health Lounge Recovery Workers after the service user leaves the lounge.
**About the role**
To welcome people to a safe space and provide appropriate support.
Some other main responsibilities of the role include:
- To motivate customers to identify causes of crises and to prevent these issues triggering crisis in the future.
- To liaise effectively with statutory providers and other voluntary sector agencies involved in the support and/or treatment of Service Users.
- To actively participate in continued professional development to be able to support customers with a range of mental health issues and associated impacts including thoughts of self-harm, drug and alcohol use and behaviour which may be experienced as challenging.
**About you**Knowledge of issues affecting those individuals with a range of mental health conditions including crisis management, how to communicate effectively with these individuals and how to support them with dignity and respect.
- Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation i.e. Care Program Approach (CPA) processes.
- Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches.
- Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to oversee induction of new peer staff and volunteers.
- Ability to work with statutory services i.e. NHS at the front line
- Awareness of health and safety issues.
- Ability to work Monday to Sunday 9.00am -5.00pm including working bank holidays.
- Good IT skills that including a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Outlook and the internet.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
- Demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have experienced mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues.
