We are currently seeking a highly skilled Specialist Castings Buyer to join our multinational engineering business based in Leeds. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimising the supply of castings for our products across multiple business units.

When purchasing casting products from suppliers, a buyer should focus on several key areas to ensure they receive high-quality products at the best possible price.

Some of the key areas a buyer should focus on include:
Quality: The buyer should ensure that the casting products meet the quality standards required for their intended use. This includes checking that the products meet all relevant industry standards and specifications.

Price: The buyer should negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible price for the casting products. This includes researching market prices, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities, and negotiating favourable terms and conditions.

Lead times: The buyer should ensure that the supplier can meet the required lead times for delivery of the casting products. This includes checking the supplier's production capacity, lead times and negotiating favourable delivery terms.

Supply chain management: The buyer should ensure that the supplier has a robust supply chain management system in place to minimize disruptions and delays. This includes checking the supplier's inventory management practices, production planning, and logistics capabilities.

Communication and collaboration: The buyer should maintain open communication and collaboration with the supplier throughout the procurement process. This includes discussing any issues or concerns, sharing information on production schedules, and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for castings, from identifying requirements through to delivery and payment
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met
- Identify and manage risks in the supply chain, including supplier capacity and financial stability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and operations, to ensure the casting supply meets product requirements
- Continuously seek opportunities to optimise the supply chain, including cost savings and process improvements

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Castings Buyer in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of casting processes, materials, and supply chain management
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- CIPS qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential
