**Are you looking for something a little different?**

Our client **provides housing for retiring Methodist presbyters and deacons, widowed partners and ministers retiring on health grounds.** They have a nationwide portfolio of **900+ residential properties,** around 700 of which are occupied by retired Methodist ministers and their dependents. The remaining properties are market rented.

This is a** hands-on and strategic role with a niche charity** that requires an **enthusiastic, empathetic and organised Property Officer.** You will be based in the Commercial team which deals with **sales, purchases, the market rented portfolio** and ministerial equity in our client’s properties.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Assisting with the disposal of the properties in the market rented portfolio in accordance with the company’s strategic and budgetary plans
- Assisting with the purchase of properties on behalf of ministerial residents
- Acting as an internal managing agent for properties that are placed on the market with estate agents for lettings or sales
- Assisting colleagues with equity matters linked to purchases, sales, and properties being let
- Helping with the implementation of new practices and procedures with the aim of improving and streamlining the running of the Commercial Team
- Assisting, when needed, with the instruction of the company’s professional survey instructions for sales, purchases and the fixing and releasing of equity interests, and refurbishments, to ensure compliance with organisational needs and charity law.

**Personal specification**:

- Educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent
- Educated to degree level would be beneficial
- Demonstrable experience of administration
- Demonstrable experience of purchases, sales and lettings
- Understanding of charity law insofar as it relates to property, or a willingness to learn
- Understanding of property maintenance and repair
- Understanding of conveyancing processes
- Understanding of legal terminology and regulations
- Developed negotiation skills
- First-class customer service skills
- Problem solving skills
- Strong IT skills
- Able to work alone or as part of a team
- Self-motivated
- Efficient
- Sympathetic to the values of the company.

**Excellent benefits include**:

- A pension contribution into a workplace pension scheme on a sliding scale up to 16%, depending on the employee contribution
- Initial annual leave of 25 days plus the usual Bank/Public Holidays plus a discretionary extra 3 days between Christmas and New Year. This increases to 28 days after 5 years, and 30 days after 10 years of employment
- Life cover and critical illness cover if in the Pension Scheme.

The **basic salary** **on offer will be in the region of **£38,000 to £45,000** dependent on previous experience, qualifications and ability.

You may **work 1 day per week from home** if you wish.
