Finance Manager

My client is a well-respected SME UK Divisional business operating within the Manufacturing / Sales / Distribution.
As part of the companies continued expansion alongside the replacement of a long serving member of staff FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Finance Manager / Financial Controller.
Reporting into the Managing Director with a dotted line to the Group CFO based in Europe.
Job Purpose
Develop, implement and manage systems for collecting, analysing, verifying and reporting financial information. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounts department to ensure work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Duties
- Assist in financial strategy, planning, monitoring and management
- Develop, manage and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures which give clear instructions on work to be carried out and timescales to be met
- Manage employee/s within the accounts department so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities
- Assist in maintaining financial security by monitoring revenue and expenses and establishing internal controls including conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
- Produce, manage and formulate budgets, forecasts, annual reports, operating and long range business plans
- Manage day-to-day accounts activities including invoicing, payments, bank reconciliation and production of customer statements
- Communicate and interpret financial information to headoffice as required
- Establish and make recommendations to areas of potential financial operational improvement
- Evaluate and report on factors influencing business performance, competitor and market trends
- Assist in product and competitor pricing analysis
- Ensure month-end management accounts are produced as required
- Liaise with external payroll provider to ensure all information is provided as agreed procedures
- Manage the processing of employees on to an Auto Enrolment pension scheme and ensure legal compliance
- Manage, monitor and ensure tight controls on the credit control processes, including production of dunning and solicitor letters, to ensure all outstanding monies owing to the company are chased as agreed procedures
- Ensure legal compliance with taxation requirements, including preparing, calculating, reporting, submitting information and making payments
- Liaise with and assist the Company Secretary in their duties to meet legal compliance
- Manage and assist in Year End Audits and ensure requested information is provided and interpreted to auditors
Person Specification
- Excellent numerical analytical skills and high attention to detail and accuracy
- Wide knowledge of financial systems and accounting systems
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages including Excel
- Strong written and oral communication
- Organised, efficient and proactive
- Ability to present and interpret financial information
- Ability to motivate, manage and train a small team of employees
