Student Safety Team Member (Nights)

Our client is the leading student accommodation provider in the UK, providing homes for 74,000 students across 25 cities. To ensure the effective delivery of this service throughout the night, trusted and skilled Student Safety Team Members (Nights) areneeded.
Reporting to the Student Sxperience Team Lead, you will be responsible for delivering our client's way of operations whilst displaying CARE (Connect, Act, Respect and Encourage) to students between 10 pm and 7am. The team works closely with peers in studentexperience to deliver a safe, clean and inclusive environment for everybody to enjoy and succeed; and achieve expected performance outcomes.
The day-to-day responsibilities for a Student Safety Team Member are varied; encompassing the proactive handling of student enquiries, feedback and requests, efficiently ensuring the specific delivery of the following:
- Keep buildings and everyone in them safe.
- Help to build a community and a place where people can relax and be themselves.
- Create an environment where students and colleagues want to stay and be successful.
- Be proud of where you work and the achievements of yourself, your team and the business.
- Meeting all students' current and future needs throughout the night will require a patient, proactive and firm but fair approach. Whether it is through resolving any operational incidents such as noise complaints and lock-outs or handling 'in the moment'scenarios such as fire alarm activations.

- Main Duties/Responsibilities
**As a Student Safety Team Member (Nights), your duties will include**:
- Being a brand ambassador and always act with positive intent.
- Taking responsibility for providing CARE (Connect, Act, Respect and Encourage) in the provision of a world class student experience to residents and each other.
- Taking responsibility for supporting students, by creating an environment where they feel safe, welcomed and settled.
- Taking responsibility for the continuation of the world-class service delivered by the student experience team during the day, throughout the night (e.g. students should not notice a 'change of shift', the service level offered should be consistent 24/7)
- Taking responsibility for keeping buildings and students safe during the night, including supporting students should they find themselves in vulnerable or difficult situations, potentially as a result of alcohol or other substances.
- Taking responsibility for dealing with a range of 'in the moment' scenarios which could include, but may not be limited to, student behaviour matters, fire alarm activations, escape of water (flooding), and building systems failures.
- Taking ownership of resolving any operational incidents such as noise complaints and lock-outs.
- Where needed, working closely with the security team to ensure the property and residents is kept safe from external threats.
- Ensuring public areas are kept neat and tidy after student use at the end of the night and start of the day.
- Supporting night team members in other properties in the event of a major incident (e.g. Fire, major disturbance).
- Getting to know and actively listening to students, directing them to available specialist support whenever it is needed.
- Taking responsibility for responding to the needs of students on an individual basis.
- Taking responsibility for escalating any student welfare matters to the student experience lead, by noticing how students behave and by engaging them in conversation and listening to them.
- Being accountable for responsiveness and taking appropriate action on receipt of student feedback, resolving issues either directly or indirectly and making sure a resolution is found or the issue is escalated in the right amount of time.
- Taking responsibility for adhering to the company's policies, procedures and specified and trained ways of working at all times.
- Taking responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for everyone, the completion and recording of basic monitoring and compliance where trained to do so, and taking appropriate action in case of incident or emergency.
- Taking responsibility for keeping a clean, tidy and well-maintained environment and never walking past a mess without doing something about it.
- Taking responsibility for understanding our sustainability strategy, why it matters and actioning any opportunities the role presents to help achieve specified sustainability targets.
