Head of Arts Therapies

The Head of Arts Therapies manages and is professionally responsible for the Arts Therapies Services, as part of Therapy Services Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). The post holder will:
- Be responsible for safe, effective, equitable and timely provision of pan BCUHB Arts Therapy, in accordance with the standards and codes of practice of the British Association for Music Therapists (BAMT ), the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT), the British Association of Drama therapists (BADTH ), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and within the framework of BCUHB clinical governance.
- Work collaboratively with all teams, services and stakeholders in matters relating to performance agenda affecting arts therapies.
- Lead on implementation of highly specialist person-centered treatment models for people with complex needs.
- Undertake a lead role in promoting reflective practice with staff groups and professionals, including provision of supervision, formulation, debriefing, and team facilitation as required.
- Promote core activities of arts therapies in teaching, training, consultation, research and audit, evaluation, service development and service planning.
Be an active participant of the Therapies/AHP Management team
Will provide day-to-day operational and strategic management to staff within the Arts Therapies Service
Will be responsible for the professional practice and standards
Will be responsible for the development, organisation and on-going review of the arts therapies needs of adults and children and advising the IHC Directors of AHP’s on appropriate provision to meet these needs
Lead on strategic development of the Arts Therapies/Psychotherapies ensuring this is consistent with the overall services through attendance at appropriate planning meetings within Therapies
Will work with the Heads of Mental Health/service operational leads, therapy services in the development of psychotherapeutic approaches for people with complex needs
Will contribute to, and participate in, working parties proposing service changes within Mental Health, providing advice around the Arts Therapies
Will manage autonomously a complex case-load using person centred and evidence based principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Will maintain a high level of knowledge of professional issues for the arts therapies liaising with the BAMT, BAAT, BADTH and the HCPC and be familiar with current strategic thinking in the NHS in general and Mental Health/CAMHS Services in particular
